I’ve been learning English for over five years. I realize that there are two ways to approach English throughout the learning process: Being disciplined and having fun.
1, Be disciplined and severe
When I first started, I was serious about learning pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. It was so dull, and I had no joy. But back then, I was so driven to get better at English. I was so disciplined, even if English was my nightmare. Now, If I want to shorter my process of learning new vocabulary, I will force myself to learn too.
2, Have fun and take it easy
When I have a little foundation in English, I listen to English songs, watch Hollywood movies, and write down my notes in English. I have so much fabulous fun. That’s when I realize I fall in love with English, and this love leads me to go this far in this language. When I come back home and feel a little bit frustrated, I will turn on my laptop to enjoy some TV shows on Netflix, and I learn English passively. I allow myself to take it easy.
3, The combination of the two approaches
After all, learning English is not an easy journey. Sometimes, I have to be very serious about what I want to know. From time to time, I must let myself have fun with English. I combine the two approaches, and It becomes my effective method. If I always push myself to learn, I will be discouraged. On the opposite, It will slow down my process of learning English. Therefore, I firmly believe The combination of the two approaches is a sustainable way for me to level up my English for a long time.
