05 lessons I’ve learned from Harry Potter

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

I’ve watched Harry Potter recently, and I’m really into this movie. Watching Harry Potter, I feel like I’m in a fantasy world. I want to learn magic, be a wizard, make poisons, and have a wand. This series includes eight parts with a total of 20 hours of watching. But believe me, you will not waste your time. There are many lessons learned from this extraordinary masterpiece.

1, Imagination is magic

Harry Potter is a whole new world full of magic. Most events happen in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Harry, Hermione, and Ron study magic. Watching this movie, I can’t understand how J.K Rolling can imagine and create an entire world of magic like this. It’s out of my thoughts. That’s when I realize human beings still have charm. It’s called Imagination, and It has no limits.

2, Each person has their own strengths

Harry is brave. Hermione is brilliant. Ron is supportive, and he is the connection between their friendship. In each mission, each of them contributes to the big picture to fight their enemy. On the other hand, other characters in this series have their strengths and play different roles. That’s why we need friends to team up to solve the problem.

3, No matter where you live, in the modern world or in the magic world, you must fight for equality

In the modern world, we fight for women's rights, black people's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, etc. It's the same in the magic world. They fight for muggles' and goblins' rights, etc. Equality is not an accident. The minorities usually are viewed as second-class citizens in whatever world. That's why people like Hermione or headmaster Dumbledore always fight for muggle equality in Harry Potter, which has been progressing yearly.

4, A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

It seems no hope the first time Harry and his friends start their journey of finding the Horcruxes. But they still follow their heart to fight their last battle. The picture becomes more apparent daily when they have been through many ups and downs. Finally, they tackle the perplexing puzzle and face their enemy.

5, The dark side is still strong, but it can’t win in the end

Tom Riddle, aka Voldemort, is so strong. He is the Dark Lord and a master of dark magic. He is so clever too. He is too famous and still thriving in some ways. But in the end, he’s still defeated. The truth is, good will win out over evil, and evil will be defeated in the long run -- finally and completely.

Harry Potter is always a symbol in fictional movies. It’s not only a child movie but also full of lessons for all ages. I respect the author of this book so much - J.K Rolling, who brings her Imagination to the real world with her writing magic.
