How to crack English grammar

Updated: Jul 4, 2022

English grammar was my fear. I felt unsafe when I wrote something in English because I was afraid of making grammar mistakes. Luckily, I have figured out some helpful ways to get better at grammar. I think you can apply them too.

1, English Grammar In Use by Raymond Murphy, Intermediate level

This book is written in English, but It's straightforward to study and understand. "English Grammar In Use" provides many exercises for you to practice after each lesson. It's a good choice for you to learn grammar from zero. This book saved me when I first started learning grammar. You may spend one to three months completing this book if you study every day.

2, Grammar course on Skillshare: English Grammar Pro | Beginner to Advanced (A1-C1)

I use this course to revise my grammar knowledge. This course is operated very well. The teacher is friendly. He teaches very clearly. I feel more confident after learning this course. I highly recommend this one to you. You can learn it for free if you use the Skillshare trial for two months.

3, Practice makes perfect: write every day

I write every day in English. I apply grammar lessons I've learned to my writing. It's a beneficial way to brush up on my English grammar.

4, Learn from sentence models, and Google

If I see a good sentence when I read books or newspapers, I will rewrite this sentence to make it become my sentence. For example, The model sentence is "In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take". My version: "In the end, we only regret the love we didn't try to have."

Sometimes, I use Google to test my grammar. I type a sentence or a phrase on Google and check. For instance, I type "on the interview or in the interview," and then I read the results on Google and find the correct usage.

5, Grammarly Google Chrome Extension and Grammarly. com Premium

Grammarly is a turning point in my grammar learning process. It helps me check my spelling mistakes, my punctuation, etc. The most helpful feature is words and structures recommendation. I feel safer with my grammar after letting Grammarly review my paper. Moreover, It provides me with a clear dashboard to check my writing performance. I highly recommend using this one for sure.

I'm still in the process of learning grammar. I'm not good at grammar, but I try my best to improve my grammar every day.
