Learning English is a must to connect to the global world. I’m serious about learning English. But learning English is not an easy process. There are some ups and downs throughout this journey. Today, I want to tell you guys the three downsides of learning English from my own experience.
1, Learning English takes so much time
I’ve been learning English nonstop for over five years to be who I am now. Sometimes, if you see some people who can speak English fluently, they might learn English since they were kids. It takes years to get them to the advanced English level. In fact, not many children are lucky enough to surround themselves with an English environment. If you start learning English seriously in high school or university, when you are 20-year-old, in most cases, you can’t speak English fluently like a 15-year-old boy who has been learning English since he was five years old. We have our own time zone for learning English.
Suppose we follow the rule of 10.000 hours to master English. Every day, we spend 03-hour studying. It might take us 09-year to control English fully.
2, Learning English needs a lot of effort
To be honest, when I first started learning English, I hated English so much. It was no fun for sure. I spent so much effort practicing Pronunciation, Grammar, Vocabulary, etc. Even now, when I’ve tried to reach an advanced level in English, It’s so hard, and I have to force myself to study seriously. It’s not an easy task to level up ourselves from A to B level and from B to C level. But I think if I can reach the advanced level, It can be a turning point in my life. Even if it’s harsh, I will never give up.
3, Learning English takes a lot of money
Studying at an English center or an international school will take you so much money. For example, the tuition of 200.000 - 300.000 vnd per hour is a typical price in a famous English center in Ho Chi Minh city. If you have a low budget to learn English, you can mostly spend your time learning on the internet. It might save you more money. But when you first start learning English, I think you need a teacher by your side for at least three months. One way or another way, you must pay money to learn English. The sad truth is that many people spend tons of money to learn English with no results in the end.
Learning English is not an overnight process. It requires many things, such as time, effort, and money. In the end, most people who are fluent in English are the ones who never give up on this journey. They overcome obstacles to learning English and make their dream come true.
