K-POP and US-UK music industries are the most prominent music industries globally. But, there are some apparent differences between them. From a fan's perspective, I absorb and love both of them. Here are some obvious differences:
1, K-POP: Mostly famous for groups. US-UK: Mostly solo artists
2, K-POP: Mostly performers. US-UK: Singers, songwriters, producers; most singers write their own songs. Some artists are a combination of two abilities. Example: G-Dragon, Taylor Swift
3, K-POP: Fashion and beauty play an essential role. US-UK: Freestyle, basic fashion, the beauty is not important as their talents.
4, K-POP: Strickly rules: no dating, no drugs, no alcohol. US-UK: More comfortable lifestyle
5, K-POP: Training for an extended period (for example, BLACKPINK members had trained for
4-6 years in YG Entertainment before they debuted as BLACKPINK). US-UK: Mostly self-taught or endowed with natural abilities.
6, K-POP: Build a strong relationship between the fandom and the artist. US-UK: Mostly connect with artists by their concerts.
Because of the apparent differences, I've learned different things from them. While I'm into watching dance performances, listening to catchy songs, and falling in love with the beauty of K-POP artists, I learn English through US-UK songs and appreciate the freedom in music. But in the end, there are no boundaries in music. They both produce upbeat songs and healing songs touching our hearts deeply.
My recommendations:
K-POP: BLACKPINK, 2NE1, BIGBANG, LEE HI, BTS
US-UK: ADELE, LADY GAGA, SAM SMITHS, IMAGINE DRAGONS, TAYLOR SWIFT
